PRAYERS FOR PRIESTS AND SEMINARIANS

"The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest." (Luke 10:2)

Prayer for Vocation in Singapore

Father, today “the harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few" and You said to us through Your Son, “Ask the master of the harvest to send labourers to gather the harvest." Filled with confidence, we ask in Your plan of salvation to provide shepherds for Your people.

Filled those You have chosen in Singapore with a spirit of courage and love to answer Your call as religious brother or sister and Your call as minister of Your altar and an ardent servant of the gospel. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for Seminarians

Lord, enable these future priests to have a personality that is honest, and rich in virtue, in the semblance of Jesus Christ. Enable them to be men of God, and like Jesus, men for others.Instill in their hearts a real love for the Divine Word, for the Eucharist and for prayer, for the Church and for the doctrine of salvation that she preserves and faithfully proclaims.
Enable them, finally, in preparation for their future ministry, to be more holy every day. Amen.

Prayer for Vocations by Pope John Paul II

0 Jesus, our Good Shepherd, bless all our parishes with numerous priests, deacons, men and women in religious life, consecrated laity and missionaries, according to the needs of the entire world, which You love and wish to save. We especially entrust our community to you; grant us the spirit of the first Christians, so that we may be a cenacle of prayer, in loving acceptance of the Holy Spirit and His gifts. Assist our pastors and all who live a consecrated life. Guide the steps of those who have responded generously to your call and are preparing to receive holy orders or to profess the evangelical counsels. Look with love on so many well disposed young people and call them to follow you. Help them to understand that in you alone can they attain to complete fulfilment. To this end we call on the powerful intercession of Mary, Mother and model of all vocations. We beseech you to sustain our faith with the certainty that the Father will grant what you have commanded us to ask. Amen.

A Prayer for Priests

O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep all Your priests within the shelter of Your Sacred Heart where none may harm them. Keep unstained their anointed hands which daily touch Your Sacred Body. Keep unsullied their lips purpled with Your Precious Blood. Keep pure and unworldly their hearts sealed with the sublime marks of Your glorious priesthood. Let Your holy love surround them and protect them from the world’s evil. Make them holy, and bless their labours with abundant fruit. May the souls to whom they ministered here below be their joy and consolation and in Heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen.

O Mary, Queen of the Clergy, pray for us. Amen.

Prayer for Vocation with Mother Mary

O Mother of Jesus Christ,
You were with Him from the beginning of His life and in His mission,
You sought the Master among the crowd, you stood beside Him when He was lifted up from the earth, consumed as the one eternal sacrifice,
and you had John, your son, close by,
Accept those who have been called to your motherly care,
Protect their growth and accompany them in their journey with your Son.

O Mother of Priests,
Pray for us, Amen.

"All Christians, including priests and other spiritual leaders, are God's construction sites - developing, incomplete, messy, as life goes on. And, for what it's worth, the church is also a construction site - the grandest and sometimes the messiest of all."
